Recollections of the Past

“From resentment or excessive preoccupation with the past”

“Deliver me Jesus.”

Preoccupation with the past? How so?

In what I should have done, what I should have said, in how hard I should have tried to change things?

Resentment?

That’s a bit easier to understand. But still resentment of what? Other people, my own sin, the situation?

I cannot change it, so…

“From resentment or excessive preoccupation with the past”

“Deliver me Jesus.”

The past did indeed exist but all that is left are broken memories. Trying to recollect those thought, those memories, that time is impossible. We cannot get it back and it is better to learn to trust our Dear Lord than to fret over what is done and that we cannot change.

Don’t fret today. Help is on the way, or rather, He is already with you.
